Ritchie – commissioned by a group of friends for the owner’s birthday.
‘I just had to write a wee note to thank you so much for the lovely picture of Ritchie, it is a joy and I will always treasure it’ – Gwen (Ritchie’s owner)
Blini, a black labrador, is another recent commission.
‘. . . we are really pleased; it was beyond our dreams and is very characteristic of her.’ Peter Kenworthy-Browne
These form a large part of my commissioned work. If you live within reasonable travelling distance I can come to meet the animal, observe it and take photographs but I am also happy to work from clear photos you can email me, (several different ones if possible), video and your description of your animal’s personality and foibles. A painting should capture more than just a likeness.
I work in pastel, (a very sympathetic medium), watercolour, (also suitable for ‘soft’ subjects) and acrylic which often suits a more modern setting and a more robust animal!
Sizes to suit you from a little bigger than A4 from £100. For horse portraits I would recommend at least A3.
I am happy to paint portraits or whole animals and can include more than one animal in a picture or the same animal in different poses if required and in the setting you prefer or on a plain background. I can let you see sketches and alternative compositions as the work progresses.
I wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my lovely picture. I haven’t stopped looking at it and as the days go by I love it more and more. Thank you for immortalising a special friend. Sam Ellis.
