About Sonia

In March 2015 I relocated to the lovely little town of Caerwys in Flintshire and am already inspired but my new surroundings which are very different from Northamptonshire where I was based for thirty years in beautiful Eydon. I work in a variety of media, mainly acrylic, pastel and watercolour but I enjoy most media. Animal portraits are one of the subjects I’m best known for and, as an animal lover, I really enjoy this area of work.
I originally trained as a teacher at Homerton college, Cambridge and until my move ran adult painting and drawing classes and life classes in Litchborough and Daventry.
I am particularly interested in wildlife and the environment and, as well as looking at British subjects, have travelled in India, South America, Scandinavia, China, Europe, and to both Antarctica and the Arctic with my sketchbook and camera. I run workshops for art groups, talk to WIs and other groups about my travels and enjoy the interaction with people.

I run Art holidays in Britain and Europe which I enjoy and so must the students as they book up quickly!
